Lagos Government Shuts Down Businesses in Ikoyi, Surulere Over Noise and Environmental Infractions

The Lagos State Government has sealed multiple businesses across areas like Ikoyi, Surulere, Ojota, and others for violating noise pollution and environmental regulations. The enforcement, led by the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), targeted entertainment venues, hotels, restaurants, prayer centers, and construction sites that posed threats to public health and safety.

The shutdowns occurred in neighborhoods including:

• Surulere: Akerele, Ayilara, Eric Moore, Adeniran Ogunsanya, Lawanson, Ijeshatedo, Aguda.

• Ikoyi: Femi Okunu Road, Milverton Road.

• Ojota: Several undisclosed locations.
Among the sealed establishments were Suya Spot, Club Crash, Tea & Coffee Spot, Salt of Life Prayer Ministry, Esteem Royal Hotels, Paragon Hotels, Cord Hotels & Suites Ltd, House 36, Admax Hotel, C.C. Uche Aluminum Company, a construction site, a bakery, and Milestone Apartment.

Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, General Manager of LASEPA, reiterated the agency’s commitment to ensuring a safe and healthy environment for Lagos residents. He emphasized that noise pollution and environmental violations disrupt community harmony and well-being.

“We have a zero-tolerance stance on these infractions,” Ajayi stated, urging businesses and individuals to comply with regulations to create a sustainable and healthier Lagos.

The enforcement highlights the Lagos State Government’s dedication to addressing urban environmental challenges, including noise pollution, which has been a growing concern in densely populated areas.

LASEPA continues its clampdown to safeguard public health and calls on businesses to align with environmental laws to avoid sanctions.
