Italian energy giant Eni has achieved a key milestone in its Congo LNG project by installing the first wellhead platform (WHP) offshore Congo-Brazzaville.
This platform, known as Nene WHP 1, is the first of several planned installations to support Eni’s floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) infrastructure. It plays a critical role in the operator’s initiative to produce 2.4 million tonnes per annum (tpa) of LNG.
Combined with the existing Tango FLNG facility, the Congo LNG project’s total liquefaction capacity is projected to reach 3 million tpa by the end of 2025. This development marks a significant step forward in boosting LNG output for Congo-Brazzaville, with the potential to enhance energy exports and meet growing global LNG demand.
