Discussions between global certification giants Bureau Veritas and SGS have concluded without an agreement, the companies announced on Monday.
Bureau Veritas highlighted its strong belief in the benefits of consolidation within the testing, inspection, and certification (TIC) sector but confirmed that negotiations with SGS had ceased without a resolution.
The two companies, which are among the largest in the TIC industry, had publicly disclosed their talks on 15 January, sparking speculation about a potential merger that could have reshaped the sector. Despite the optimism for consolidation, no deal materialized.
The decision marks the end of talks that industry analysts had anticipated could lead to significant synergies and strengthened market positioning for both companies.
