FHA Suspends Construction in Abuja Estates, Orders Documentation from Feb. 3

The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) has ordered the suspension of all construction activities in its estates in Lugbe, Karu, and Kubwa within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Key Directives:

Developers must report to FHA Head Office (No. 26, Julius Nyerere Crescent, Asokoro, Abuja) starting February 3.
Required Documents:
Letters of allocation
Approved building plans
Payment receipts
Ownership proof (e.g., consent letters, ownership transfer documents)

Commercial developers without proper approvals have three months to regularize documents.
Failure to comply will result in strict sanctions.

Similar Action Taken in Lagos

FHA estates in Lagos (FESTAC, Ipaja, Abesan, Isheri, Olofin, etc.) faced a similar suspension in January 2025.
Developers in Lagos were also given a three-month grace period to regularize their property documents.

Why This Matters

The FHA aims to enforce regulatory standards and curb unauthorized developments.
Property owners are urged to comply promptly to avoid penalties.
