UK energy giant Shell has obtained a temporary court injunction in Malaysia as it seeks to navigate an ongoing dispute between state-owned Petronas and Sarawak’s Petros over control of the state’s gas aggregation.
The High Court in Kuala Lumpur granted Shell MDS (SMDS) an interim injunction in January, providing temporary relief from paying millions of dollars for gas supplied to its gas-to-liquids (GTL) plant in Bintulu, Sarawak.
Judicial Commissioner Arziah Mohamed Apandi ruled that the injunction would maintain the status quo, ensuring Shell continues receiving feed gas and keeping operations running while the legal battle between Petronas and Petros unfolds.
