PE Energy Unveils New Technology to End Gas Flaring, Boost Oil Production

In a bold move to combat gas flaring and enhance oil production, PE Energy Limited, a leading energy services company, has introduced an advanced Multi-phase Pump and System technology in Nigeria.

The innovative solution was unveiled on February 4, 2025, at an oil and gas seminar in Lagos, organized in collaboration with ITT Bornemann GmbH under the theme:
“Eliminating Gas Flaring and Reducing CAPEX in Production Fields; A Sustainable Approach.”

A Game Changer for Nigeria’s Oil Industry
Speaking at the event, Dr. Daere Akobo, Chairman of PANA Holdings and Group CEO of PE Energy Limited, emphasized that the new technology offers a sustainable approach to tackling carbon and methane emissions while optimizing oil production.

“This technology will not only improve environmental sustainability but also boost oil recovery, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s policy on methane emission reduction and lowering the overall cost of oil production,” Akobo stated.

He commended both past and present administrations for their commitment to Nigeria’s National Gas Policy 2020, which seeks to commercialize flare gas rather than waste it.

How the Technology Works
Jeroen Olde Monnickhoff, Global Product Manager for Oil & Gas at ITT Bornemann GmbH, explained that the Multi-phase Pump and System helps to:
✔ Reduce routine gas flaring by capturing gas and channeling it downstream to production facilities.
✔ Enhance oil production by lowering air pressure in reservoirs, leading to increased output.
✔ Promote environmental safety by mitigating the harmful impact of gas emissions.

“This technology has been successfully deployed across global oil and gas markets. Industry players in Nigeria stand to benefit significantly by adopting this approach, which is far more cost-effective than flaring gas,” Monnickhoff added.

A Step Towards Sustainability
With Nigeria striving to reduce gas flaring penalties and transition toward cleaner energy, the introduction of this new multi-phase pumping system is seen as a breakthrough for sustainable oil exploration.

PE Energy Limited and ITT Bornemann GmbH are urging oil and gas stakeholders to embrace the innovation, emphasizing its potential to drive both economic and environmental progress in the industry.
