Nigeria Approves Importation of Brazilian Bovine and Buffalo Embryos

The Brazilian government has announced that Nigeria has granted authorization for the importation of bovine and buffalo embryos from Brazil, both in vivo and in vitro.

Nigeria, with a population of over 223 million and one of Africa’s largest economies, imported agricultural products worth over $880 million from Brazil in 2024. This latest approval further strengthens trade ties between the two nations and expands opportunities for Brazilian agribusiness in Africa.

The continent’s rapid population growth and economic potential make it an attractive market for Brazil’s agricultural sector. With this new development, Brazilian agribusiness has gained nine additional market access opportunities in 2025, bringing the total to 309 since early 2023.

The achievement is a result of coordinated efforts between Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighting the country’s commitment to expanding international partnerships.
