Nigeria, Saudi Arabia Sign $10m Deal for Red Meat, Soybean Export

Nigeria, through the Commodities Development Initiative (CDI), has signed a $10 million agreement with Saudi Arabia’s P and I Energy Consults, owners of Jurassic Abattoir, to export high-quality red meat and soybeans to the Kingdom.

Under the deal, Jurassic Abattoir will produce premium cattle and sheep meat products, while CDI will facilitate market access to Saudi Arabia. The partnership aims to boost Nigeria’s infrastructure and market positioning for global exports.

Managing Director of P and I Energy Consult, Anyebe Idoga, described the partnership as a strategic step toward integrating Nigeria into the global meat market. Similarly, Roland Oroh, Managing Director of CDI, highlighted the investment’s potential to enhance Nigeria’s meat export capacity.

The agreement, signed in Abuja, follows the May 2024 visit of Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture. It is projected to generate $273 million (N451 billion) in export revenue by 2025, create 20,000 direct and 100,000 indirect jobs, and contribute to GDP growth.

The Jurassic Abattoir project, with a daily capacity of 1,000 cattle and 500 sheep and goats, is expected to be completed by September 2025, creating 100 direct and indirect jobs.
