Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has called on ambassadors to encourage their country’s business communities to invest in the state’s agricultural sector and Nigeria at large.
Speaking on Tuesday at the Agritech Nigeria Osun 2025 event in Abuja, Adeleke, represented by Senator Lere Oyewunmi (Osun West), emphasized that Osun State has significantly improved its infrastructure and is open for business.
The meeting, which served as a precursor to the state’s upcoming International Agricultural Exhibition and Agri-Business Conference in April, was attended by diplomats from Tunisia, Cuba, India, DR Congo, Kenya, the Philippines, Ethiopia, Portugal, Côte d’Ivoire, Cape Verde, Niger, and Zimbabwe, among others.
Governor Adeleke assured investors of a favorable business environment, offering incentives and policy support to facilitate their investments.
“I am inviting your businessmen and women to invest in Osun State and Nigeria. I can assure them of a bountiful return on their investments. Nowhere is better to invest than Nigeria, with the enabling environment provided by the Federal Government,” he said.
He highlighted Osun’s status as an agricultural hub in southwestern Nigeria, emphasizing its high ease-of-doing-business rating, positive investment climate, agro-industrialization policies, and existing free trade zones.
“Agritech Nigeria Osun 2025 is an international platform for manufacturers, researchers, investors, academia, buyers, and decision-makers from both local and international sectors. Our government is committed to providing incentives and support to ensure your investments thrive,” Adeleke added.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, represented by Ambassador Bolaji Akenremi, Director of Economy, Trade, and Investment at the ministry, reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to fostering international cooperation and economic diversification.
“This meeting highlights the importance of leveraging diplomacy to attract investment, technology, and expertise to enhance food security, promote agribusiness, and drive sustainable economic development,” Akenremi stated.
He encouraged diplomatic partners to explore Osun’s agricultural opportunities and collaborate in advancing technology, capacity building, and market expansion.
