National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and FAAN Board Chairman, Alhaji Abdulahi Ganduje, has emphasized the need for collaboration among aviation agencies to achieve President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
During a working visit to FAAN on Tuesday, Ganduje met with the management team and toured Lagos International Airport, identifying key operational challenges.
Collaboration Over Rivalry
Ganduje cautioned against institutional rivalry, stressing it undermines the administration’s efforts in addressing aviation sector challenges.
“My request here is for collaboration. Institutional rivalry detracts from achieving the overall objective of Mr. President,” Ganduje said.
He called on FAAN’s Managing Director and other agency heads to work together, ensuring seamless execution of responsibilities.
Improved Coordination and Motivation
Ganduje highlighted the importance of organizational synergy, urging directorates to cooperate closely to enhance operational success.

“Cooperation among directorates is vital. No directorate can succeed without the support of others,” he added.
He also charged FAAN personnel to improve work attitudes, emphasizing that motivation and self-drive are key to organizational growth.
Timely Budget Implementation
Ganduje urged the FAAN management to implement budgetary plans within fixed timelines, warning that delays could lead to inflation, deterioration, and apathy.
“Timelines matter. Delays attract inflation, deterioration, and apathy. Set clear targets to avoid these issues,” he emphasized.
He further requested written summaries from directorates outlining their roles and expectations for better strategic guidance.
Addressing Lagos Airport Challenges
After touring Lagos International Airport, Ganduje acknowledged FAAN’s competent leadership but noted operational challenges that require swift attention.
“FAAN is blessed with a capable team. However, addressing existing challenges is crucial for achieving international standards,” Ganduje stated.
FAAN’s 2025 Priorities
FAAN Managing Director, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, outlined the agency’s 2025 priorities, focusing on safety, security, airport recertification, and infrastructure upgrades.
“We have rolled out an enhanced safety policy and are working closely with NCAA for its deployment,” Kuku said.
FAAN is also embarking on runway renovations, terminal rehabilitations, and improved passenger experiences at major and secondary airports.
Enhanced Security and Infrastructure Development
Kuku highlighted the deployment of new explosive detection devices across airports to bolster security.
“We are introducing new security equipment nationwide, enhancing safety as we facilitate passenger movements,” she noted.
Significant terminal rehabilitation projects, especially for passengers with disabilities, are underway, with major infrastructure upgrades planned for Lagos and Abuja airports.
Kuku concluded, “Passenger feedback is improving, but we recognize more work remains. Expect exciting developments in the coming months.”
