The Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Captain Chris Najomo, has called on Approved Training Organisations (ATOs) to strictly adhere to the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs) during personnel training.
Najomo, represented by Mr. Hyelni Bassi, General Manager, Licensing, made this appeal at a stakeholders’ workshop on managing compliance with Nig. CARs in Lagos. He stressed that ATOs play a vital role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of aviation operations, as the industry, professionals, and travelling public depend on the rigorous training they provide.
Najomo highlighted the challenges posed by rapid technological advancements, evolving regulations, and complex aviation operations. He urged stakeholders to collaborate in fostering a culture of transparency and accountability through best practices and continuous improvement strategies.
Meanwhile, Mr. Adoyi Sunnie, Head of ATO Inspectorate, noted that most applications received by the NCAA do not meet regulatory requirements. He emphasized that ATOs must have adequate facilities, technical data, training materials, and qualified personnel. Additionally, they must implement robust quality and safety management systems.
Sunnie assured stakeholders that the NCAA is leveraging technology to streamline processes while maintaining high standards in compliance and training quality.
