Aviation workers, under the Joint Consultative and Negotiating Council (JCNC), have urged President Bola Tinubu to facilitate payments owed to former Nigeria Airways employees.
JCNC Chairman, Comrade Hector Nnadi, made the appeal during the 11th Aviation Workers’ Week and Award Night in Abuja. He emphasized that previous efforts through the Aviation Minister, Festus Keyamo, had not yielded results.
In 2018, aviation unions threatened to shut down airspace over the government’s failure to pay ₦45 billion in entitlements. Although ₦22 billion was approved, records indicate ₦36 billion remains unpaid.

Nnadi called on Tinubu to intervene, stating that many ex-workers continue to suffer while waiting for their benefits. He described the unpaid entitlements as a long-standing injustice.
The Minister of Aviation, represented by Permanent Secretary Dr. Ibrahim Kana, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to workers’ welfare, urging unions to embrace dialogue.
