The Federal Government has announced its readiness to collaborate with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) to transform the nation’s agricultural sector.
Vice President Kashim Shettima disclosed this during his official visit to IITA in Ibadan, emphasizing the role of modern science and technology in boosting agricultural productivity.

Science-Driven Agriculture for Increased Yield
Shettima stated that the government aims to enhance agricultural yield through scientific advancements, recognizing the entrepreneurial mindset of Nigerians.
He highlighted the importance of improved seeds and mechanization, noting the ongoing importation of tractors and intermediate technology to support smallholder farmers.
IITA’s Commitment to Food Security
IITA Director-General Dr. Simeon Ehui underscored the institute’s role in enhancing food security through research, capacity building, and technology transfer.
He reaffirmed IITA’s commitment to supporting the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda by driving agricultural innovation and sustainability.
