President Tinubu Approves ₦2 Billion for Resettlement of Flood Victims in Niger State

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved ₦2 billion for the immediate reconstruction of homes destroyed by recent flooding in Mokwa, Niger State.

The flood devastated Mokwa Local Government Area, displacing many residents and destroying property.

The area has been prone to seasonal flooding, often linked to river overflows and inadequate infrastructure.

The announcement was made by Vice President Kashim Shettima, who visited the affected communities on Wednesday.

He reassured victims that their concerns will be addressed swiftly.

The approved funds are aimed at:

Rebuilding damaged homes

Providing basic amenities for displaced persons

Supporting long-term resettlement efforts

In a statement the Vice President Kasim Shettima noted “The President has directed the release of ₦2 billion to begin the rebuilding process immediately. We are not just responding to a crisis, we are committed to restoring dignity and hope to our citizens.”
