NNPC Warns of Fraudsters Demanding Money from Investors

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has issued a strong warning about fraudulent individuals and entities impersonating its officials to solicit money from unsuspecting investors.

In a statement released on Monday, NNPC’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, disclosed that scammers have been demanding fees for arranging meetings with members of the NNPC board, executives, and senior management. He described these actions as unauthorised and illegal.

“The general public is advised to beware of individuals and companies falsely claiming to represent NNPC Limited,” Soneye stated. “Their tactics include soliciting fees for meetings with the NNPC board of directors, executives, and management staff.”

The company particularly warned foreign investors and international business entities to be vigilant, urging anyone approached in such a manner to report the incident to the appropriate authorities without delay.

Soneye emphasized that all legitimate business interactions with NNPC are conducted solely through official channels or designated business units.

“NNPC Limited remains committed to transparency, integrity, and the protection of our stakeholders in all interactions,” he added. “Let’s work together to prevent scams. Stay alert and share this notice.”

This alert comes amid increased efforts by the NNPC to uphold ethical standards and foster trust with both local and international partners.
