IPMAN urges Lagos to slash e-call-up fee from ₦12,500 to ₦2,500

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has called on the Lagos State Government to reduce the newly introduced ₦12,500 e-call-up fee for trucks operating along the Lekki-Epe corridor. The association described the charge as excessive and economically burdensome, especially for tanker operators grappling with rising operational costs.

Speaking on behalf of the association, IPMAN’s Lagos Zonal Chairman, Akin Akinrinade, argued that a reasonable and sustainable fee would be ₦2,500. He warned that failure to review the charge could lead to disruptions in petroleum product distribution, potentially triggering nationwide fuel scarcity and price hikes.

The Lagos government, however, defended the fee as a necessary cost-recovery mechanism for infrastructure provided by a private concessionaire managing the call-up system. While negotiations continue, both IPMAN and the National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) have halted loading activities since June 16 in protest.
