Heirs Energies & Renaissance Africa Forge Strategic Alliance for Local Oil and Gas Development in Nigeria

Heirs Energies Limited and Renaissance Africa Energy Company are set to deepen collaboration aimed at advancing indigenous-led growth in Nigeria’s upstream oil and gas sector, reinforcing a broader shift toward domestic ownership and capacity building.

The partnership was initiated during a courtesy visit by Heirs Energies CEO, Osa Igiehon, to the leadership of Renaissance Africa, led by Managing Director Tony Attah, marking the first formal engagement between the two local powerhouses since Renaissance’s recent acquisition of key assets in Nigeria’s energy space.

“We are happy to connect with the leadership of Renaissance and congratulate them on their successful deal and transition,” said Igiehon. “As indigenous firms, we all have a duty to the continued development of the industry. The thinking and how we approach things will be different now, as we’re both committed to Nigerian excellence and driving unprecedented production growth.”

He described the collaboration as a “natural fit”, built on shared values and a common ambition to transform Nigeria’s energy future.

Renaissance MD Tony Attah, formerly of Nigeria LNG, echoed the sentiment, stating:

“This collaboration represents a significant step forward as we pursue our shared vision for the industry. We are focused on working with local partners to boost production and drive value across the energy chain.”

A New Era of Indigenous Leadership

Both companies reaffirmed their commitment to:

  • Boosting indigenous participation in the oil and gas sector

  • Improving operational efficiency

  • Supporting Nigeria’s national energy security goals

The meeting reflects a growing industry-wide trend in which Nigerian-led companies are stepping into the roles once dominated by international oil firms, especially amid ongoing divestments and favorable regulatory shifts in the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) era.

This strategic alignment underscores the emergence of a locally driven, globally competitive energy sector poised to reshape Nigeria’s oil and gas landscape.
