The Gama 98 slings held the jacket in position above Pioneering Spirit’s Stern during the two-day journey to the offshore installation site.

Lankhorst added that its heavy-lift slings are part of the vessel’s jacket lifting system for platform installation and decommissioning projects. The eight 25-m slings feature a Gama 98 ultra-heavy-lift rope construction, with the ropes manufactured in Portugal to a length tolerance of +/- 1.5%. Pioneering Spirit’s jacket lift system has six blocks to guide the slings; each block is equipped with two “endless” sling constructions. For the BorWin 5 project, the slings were proof loaded according to DNV-ST-N001.
