Indonesia’s Medco Energi has ramped up offshore production following the early commissioning of the Terubuk M wellhead platform, adding a major boost to the country’s energy output.
The platform, brought online in July, now delivers 3,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd) and 40 million cubic feet of gas, raising the total field output capacity to 6,600 bpd. This marks a significant milestone in the development of the Terubuk field, part of the South Natuna Sea Block B.
According to Indonesia’s upstream regulator SKK Migas, Terubuk M began operations over three months ahead of schedule, aided by rapid fabrication, faster than its predecessor, WHP L. The project, which recorded over 750,000 safe working hours, was fully executed by Indonesian professionals.
Beyond speed, the facility incorporates sustainable technologies including solar PV, digital microwave radio, and integrated safety systems for remote monitoring and control, enhancing efficiency and reliability offshore.
This move is part of Medco’s broader $600 million offshore development, which also includes the Forel field and the Marlin Natuna FPSO, converted by PaxOcean in Batam.
