Finnish tech group Wärtsilä has signed a decade-long lifecycle agreement with OPearl LNG Ship Management, a joint venture between China Merchant LNG, CNOOC, and NYK to support 14 new LNG carriers.
The deal, booked in Q3 2025, is designed to maximize operational reliability through dynamic maintenance planning, flexible scheduling, and extended overhaul intervals. It follows Wärtsilä’s earlier contract with CLSICO for three LNG carriers.
Under the agreement, Wärtsilä will provide:
24/7 remote operational support
Contract management
Its Expert Insight AI-powered predictive maintenance solution, which leverages real-time vessel data to detect anomalies and prevent costly downtime.
Andrea Morgante, Wärtsilä Marine’s VP of Performance Services, noted:
“Our lifecycle agreements combine advanced tech, analytics, and decarbonisation goals to ensure efficient and competitive maritime operations.”
For OPearl LNG, the partnership means greater efficiency, fewer disruptions, and stronger sustainability credentials as global LNG demand continues to climb. The 14 LNG vessels, equipped with Wärtsilä 34DF dual-fuel engines and gas valve units, are scheduled for delivery between Q3 2025 and Q2 2027.
