Independent oil and gas company Perenco is actively seeking acquisition opportunities to maintain its production profile at 500,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d). However, the privately-owned producer is taking a cautious and deliberate approach to potential purchases, according to its top executive.
Perenco’s portfolio spans the globe, but its Central and West African assets form the backbone of its production, contributing approximately 75% of its output. Key production figures from its African operations include:
- Gabon: 130,000 barrels per day (bpd)
- Cameroon: 100,000 bpd
- Congo-Brazzaville: 90,000 bpd
- Democratic Republic of Congo: 20,000 bpd
- Chad and Tunisia (combined): Nearly 20,000 bpd
The company’s disciplined approach to acquisitions reflects its intent to secure assets that align with its strategy of sustainable and efficient production, while bolstering its presence in high-performing regions.
As Perenco evaluates potential deals, its focus on operational efficiency and diversification will remain central to maintaining its competitive edge in the global oil and gas market.
