Ekiti Named Southwest’s Pilot State for Agriculture

The Federal Government has chosen Ekiti State as the pilot state for agricultural development in the Southwest, Governor Biodun Oyebanji has revealed.

The governor made this announcement during the January edition of the Evening of Praise and Worship at the Lady Jibowu Hall, Government House, Ado Ekiti. He described the recognition as a testament to the state’s progress and a reflection of divine favor.

Oyebanji credited Ekiti’s recent transformations to God’s grace, emphasizing that the state has become a model of good governance, accountability, and integrity in Nigeria. He acknowledged that divine guidance has played a key role in the state’s ongoing reforms, which have significantly improved infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and economic empowerment.

He expressed gratitude for the strides made in the past two years, noting that the support from both God and the people of Ekiti has fueled the state’s remarkable growth.

“This year started on a positive note, and we have so many reasons to be grateful,” Oyebanji said. “Our Secretary to the State Government (SSG) was just promoted to the rank of Professor of Chemistry, our Senate Leader was appointed a Life Bencher, and next week, our leader, Governor Kayode Fayemi, will celebrate his 60th birthday. These are all signs of great things happening in our state.”

Speaking on the Federal Government’s new agricultural initiative, Oyebanji described it as “cheery news” that will further position Ekiti as a key player in Nigeria’s food security and economic development.

He urged citizens to remain prayerful, united, and supportive of the administration’s vision for sustainable growth.

“Ekiti State is now a shining example of governance built on integrity and accountability,” he added. “We must continue to pray for ourselves and for the future of our great state.”

With this latest recognition, Ekiti is set to play a crucial role in shaping the future of agriculture in the Southwest, a move that is expected to drive investment and create opportunities for farmers and agribusinesses across the state.
