BATN Launches ₦27m Grant to Empower Youth in Agriculture

The British American Tobacco in Nigeria (BATN) is set to boost Nigeria’s agricultural sector by empowering youth and promoting entrepreneurship.

Through its foundation, BATN has launched a ₦27 million grant under the 2025 edition of its Graduate Agripreneurship Programme (GAP).

This year’s programme, aimed at enabling young graduates to establish sustainable agribusinesses, will be conducted in partnership with three prestigious universities: the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), the University of Ibadan (UI), and the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN).

Applications Open Until March 3, 2025
Graduates interested in the programme can submit applications through the websites of the participating universities, with detailed guidelines provided by each institution. The deadline for applications is Monday, March 3, 2025.

Promoting Sustainable Agriculture and Economic Growth
The BATN Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable agriculture and youth empowerment, aiming for a brighter future for Nigerian communities and the economy. The programme focuses on addressing critical challenges such as unemployment, food security, and sustainable economic growth by equipping participants with the tools to create jobs and contribute to the agricultural value chain.

Proven Impact of GAP on Nigerian Youth
Since its inception, GAP has empowered over 20 young agripreneurs, with each receiving ₦1.5 million to fund their agricultural projects. Beneficiaries have credited the programme with enabling them to contribute meaningfully to the agricultural sector, highlighting its role in developing the next generation of agribusiness leaders.

A Call to Action for Aspiring Agripreneurs
The BATN Foundation emphasized the critical role of its university partners in ensuring the programme’s success, offering graduates access to essential skills, mentorship, and resources. Aspiring agripreneurs are encouraged to take advantage of this transformative opportunity before the March 3 deadline.
