Polish utility Tauron Polska Energia SA (WSE:TPE) is working on wind farms and photovoltaic (PV) facilities with a total capacity of some 378 MW, the company said in its quarterly report on Wednesday.
The assets under construction include three wind farms of a total 234 MW — the 191-MW Miejska Gorka in the Greater Poland province, the 24-MW Sieradz and the 20-MW Nowa Brzeznica in central Poland.
The group is also working on two PV facilities with a total capacity of 144 MW — the 90-MW Postomino in West Pomerania and the 54-MW Balkow in the Swietokrzyskie province.
Tauron has increased its renewable generating capacity by 178 MW since March 2024 to 784 MW currently, thanks to the launch of three wind farms — the 59-MW Mierzyn, the 30-MW Warblewo and the 34-MW Gamow, as well as a 55-MW photovoltaic facility.
The company has invested PLN 191 million (USD 51m/EUR 45m) in wind and PV facilities in the first quarter, 18% of the group’s total expenditure, it said.
Tauron CEO Grzegorz Lot stressed that the group is working on the transformation of its operations so that it becomes completely climate neutral as early as 2040. It already has renewable energy capacities of almost 900 MW and is close to achieving 1 GW of installed capacity.
