Dominik Schneiter, CEO of WindGD extends after-sales support into lifetime engine service

 

Marine engine major, WinGD, has revealed a new strategy to extend the services normally provided during an engine warranty period to full lifetime support.The move comes as marine propulsion systems become increasingly complex and a new multi-fuel era gathers pace. The new ‘Global Service by WinGD’ will complement the full lifecycle support offered to clients through digital optimisation, hybrid energy integration and management, and crew training programmes.  WinGD is working with key customers on service programme pilot projects. Using ships that are in normal operation, the service has been designed to prioritise response time and reliability, the company said. Experienced personnel will be stationed in key locations around the world, with technical support centred in Switzerland and Asia, and spare parts from a range of locations around the world.

The engine company’s CEO, Dominik Schneiter, said: “Our customers are increasingly looking to us to help them navigate the challenges of deepsea shipping. Today this includes not only the clean energy transition but also supply chain uncertainty, the growing complexity of ship systems, and the need to leverage insights available through digitalisation.

The service offer will be available to all customers of a WinGD designed engine
