Petronas is pushing forward its ambition to expand Malaysia’s hydrocarbon potential by awarding two new Technical Evaluation Agreements (TEAs) targeting frontier exploration areas.
Announced on the sidelines of Energy Asia 2025, the national oil company signed a TEA with Posco International for the Layang-Layang Basin, located offshore Sabah in East Malaysia.
A second TEA was signed with Afed Texcal Energy Ventures for the Langkasuka Basin, situated in the Straits of Malacca.
These agreements aim to de-risk unexplored plays and open up new investment opportunities, aligning with Petronas’ broader strategy to revitalize upstream activity in Malaysia and attract international partners.
