Subsea Integration Alliance Kicks Off Execution Phase for OKEA’s Bestla Project in the North Sea

The Subsea Integration Alliance (SIA), a collaboration between U.S.-based OneSubsea and U.K.’s Subsea7, has achieved the first major delivery milestone for Norway’s OKEA <> marking the beginning of execution for the Bestla oil and gas project in the North Sea.

The recently delivered subsea template will serve as the foundation for all underwater infrastructure, supporting wells, equipment, and pipeline/cable integration. The template was designed in Pune, India by OneSubsea, and fabricated at Aker Solutions’ facility in Egersund, Norway. Subsea7 oversaw the successful installation, which sets the stage for upcoming deliveries including wellheads and subsea tree systems.

The Bestla project, previously named Brasse, is being developed as a two-well subsea tie-back to the Brage platform, located 13 kilometers away. Subsea Integration Alliance is providing a fully integrated subsea production system from subsea trees to umbilicals, under a unified contract model with OKEA. This streamlined approach aims to reduce project risk, simplify execution, and accelerate production.

With recoverable reserves estimated at 24 million barrels of oil equivalent (gross), Bestla sits within the Troll-Oseberg area. The final investment decision was made in April 2024, with the development and operations plan submitted in May.

Project partners include OKEA (operator, 39.27%), DNO Norge AS (39.27%), Lime Petroleum AS (17%), and M Vest Energy AS (4.4%).
