Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has been awarded the 2025 Best Corporate Training Partner Award by the Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria (OGTAN), in recognition of its outstanding contributions to workforce development and skills transfer in the oil and gas industry.
The award was presented at the 4th edition of the OGTAN Human Capital Development (HCD) Awards held in Lagos.
According to NLNG’s general manager of external relations and sustainable development, Sophia Horsfall, the recognition underscores the company’s long-standing commitment to building local capacity and empowering Nigerians through education and technical training.
Receiving the award on behalf of NLNG, Emmanuel Uleh, Head of Nigerian Content Compliance Assurance and Monitoring, reaffirmed that human capital development remains a cornerstone of NLNG’s corporate social responsibility agenda.
“At inception, NLNG deliberately promoted local capacity development by training Nigerian technicians and operators for the Bonny Island plant. Today, our management team is 100% Nigerian, and over 95% of our workforce are Nigerians,” Uleh noted.
Over the years, NLNG has:
Trained over 600 Nigerians in technical fields such as naval architecture, shipbuilding, welding, and fabrication in Nigeria and South Korea.
Partnered with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and OGTAN to train more than 150 people through asset projects.
Enrolled more than 400 Nigerians under the Train 7 Project’s Human Capital Development programme, including 140 in plant maintenance and 200 community youths preparing for operational roles.
Supported scholarship programs at post-primary, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels, both locally and abroad, in critical technical fields.
NLNG emphasized that its initiatives align with Nigeria’s broader national development goals while advancing its vision of being a globally competitive energy company that inspires a sustainable future.
Since inception, the OGTAN HCD Awards have celebrated organizations and individuals driving measurable contributions to human capital development in Nigeria.
