Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), a subsidiary of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), has announced a major gas discovery in the Jazah offshore field, marking a significant breakthrough in the nation’s upstream operations.
According to a statement shared by KPC, the new find delivers the highest vertical well production in Kuwait’s history from the Maqwa formation, producing more than 29 million cubic feet of gas per day and over 5,000 barrels of condensate daily.
KPC described the milestone as a validation of Kuwait’s strategic focus on offshore exploration and sustainable energy development
“This milestone reflects the success of KOC’s offshore exploration strategy and supports the KPC 2040 vision to enhance energy security and drive sustainable growth. With low CO₂ emissions and no associated water, Jazah sets a new benchmark for environmentally responsible production,” the company said.
Covering approximately 40 square kilometers, the Jazah field is estimated to hold 1 trillion cubic feet of natural gas and 120 million barrels of condensate crude.
This discovery follows earlier hydrocarbon finds at the Al-Julaia and Al-Nokhatha marine fields, underscoring Kuwait’s growing momentum in offshore exploration.
Analysts say this latest achievement strengthens Kuwait’s position as a key player in the Middle East’s natural gas development push, a move aligned with its long-term goal to diversify energy sources and reduce emissions.
