Tankers drive Chinese exports of $51.6 bn worth in vessels

Exports of container ships and bulker dropped while tanker numbers grew in January – November 2025.Data published by the General Administration of Customs of China shows the country exported 6,159 ships in the first eleven months of this year.The number of ships exported show a year-on-year increase of 17.8%, with a total value of RMB362.51 billion ($51.57 billion), up 27.8% year-on-year.In November, the country exported 507 ships, down 4.9% year-on-year, with the total value reaching 36.46 billion yuan, an increase of 46.4% year-on-year.From January to November, China exported a total of 280 liquid cargo ships, with a value of RMB81.65 billion. While the number of liquid cargo ships increased by 37.3% year-on-year, the value rose by 115.1% compared to the same period last year.

Exported liquid cargo ships number was 31 in November, amounting to a value of 11.23 billion yuan, representing year-on-year increases of 63.2% and 109.7%, respectively . 

Between January and November, China exported a total of 165 container ships, with a value of RMB846.97 billion, marking a year-on-year decrease of 43.1% and 24.7%, respectively.

In November, exported container ships number was 16, with a value reaching RMB110.98 billion. The number of ships decreased by 5.9% year-on-year, while the value increased by 39.5% year-on-year.

China exported 465 bulk carriers for the first eleven months, totaling RMB69.32 billion, a year-on-year decline of 14% in the number of vessels but an increase of 4.2% in export value compared to the same period last year.

In November alone, 34 bulk carriers were exported, amounting to RMB6.27 billion , with both the number of vessels and export value decreasing by 38.2% and 5.7% year-on-year, respectively.
